We continue our route along the Gulf of Kalloni and pass Achladeri driving into the forest area of south Lesvos. We discover nice nature scenery as we reach the traditional mountain village of Agiasos, which is located at the slopes of mount Olympos. Agiasos is known for the local pottery, woodcraft and herbs. You can stroll around the village and visit the famous church of Virgin Mary. Tradition says that the icon of Virgin Mary is made by the hands of Lucas the Evangelist. After we continue our way to Karini, where you can see the hollow tree in which the local painter Theofilos had lived in. We then follow the road to reach the ancient site/ruins of Messa, near the salt plains. When you have seen the ancient ruins, we return back to Petra.
